The last three years of my life have been a wild ride. So much change, so much releasing the old and allowing the new to flood in.
Aside from the soul-level things, one thing that’s especially different about me now versus then is the simple day-to-day things – how I spend my time, the quality of the products I use, how I eat, how I take care of myself.
As you go through shifts, you find the things you used to say and do, the things you filled your space with, the things you used to use… they just don’t match you anymore.
I created a list of some of those kinds of things – the little things that are bringing me joy and/or making life easier where I’m at right now – and I wanted to share them with you 🙂
In wellness …
>> Drinking water first thing in the morning. I don’t know about you, but I find it challenging to drink the recommended amount of water. What has helped me consume more water is first thing in the morning I drink room temperature water (so that I don’t shock my digestive system) and I keep drinking until I reach the count of 13. (Not sure why I chose that number but do what feels good for you)
>> Eating a piece of fruit or veggie first thing in the morning. I find it motivates me to make healthier food choices as the day progresses.
Pro tip: Wash your fruit and/or veggies the night before so that you’re good to go. And even a small amount makes a difference. You’ll see.
>> Streeeeeetching. It seems to be the thing that people skip most often but it has incredible benefits. I usually stretch between 7-10 minutes each morning.
>> It’s impossible to eat as many fruits and veggies as you’re supposed to and add the fact that the nutrients found in them now are greatly lessened with the degradation of the soil, but my naturopathic doctor recommended Greens First Pro and I’ve noticed I have more energy and daily bowel movements – which has led to a flatter stomach (and perhaps the cause of more energy since there aren’t toxins sitting in my body).
>> Walking – Some days I walk around the block and some days I walk for 5kms. Whatever the distance, this has been the simplest, most impactful and therapeutic thing I’ve brought into my days in a very long time. On these walks, I focus on my breath and use as many of my senses as I can. I try to stay present and avoid listening to music, podcasts or anything that will take me away from the moment … especially brooding over something that happened, or trying to devise a plan to avoid a problem (aka worry). It’s gotten easier to do over time.
So worth the time!
In money …
>> Having a weekly money date where I check; my credit score, my bank accounts and investment accounts. This is when I look at my money goals, I dream, I organize and map out how I can get to those goals. I work on my money mindset and I may do some EFT.
>> I’ve been using this app for a lot longer than 3 years but wanted to mention it because it’s saved me money every time I shop online. It automatically looks for coupons that work. Which means you don’t have to do any searching or click through sketchy links. Honey is free and easy to use.
>> Use a money tracker. I include any and all money I receive (tax refund, money from business, money gifted to me etc.) and I track money I’ve saved. If I get a free drink from Starbucks, I mark it as $7.06 and make it bold so that I know it wasn’t money received but money saved. If you’re interested in using the one I use, send me an email and I’ll give it to you 🙂 demi@demigoddess.store
>> Rich As F*ck by Amanda Frances. I’ve gifted this book to people and can’t recommend it enough. I bought the audio book and the paperback. It will have you seeing your relationship to money in a whole new way and little things you do every day that you don’t even know you’re doing that are negatively impacting you will be brought to light.
In beauty …
>> The lip balm I use is absolutely heaven. It’s called More Than Lips and it’s good for your body and the environment.
>> Using an electric toothbrush. Whenever I travel and use a manual toothbrush, I notice a difference in the look and feel of my teeth. They’re drastically better when I use my electric toothbrush. I use Oral B but this one seems to be Amazon’s top choice.
>> Evening night cream. I put this on my face every evening and it’s sooooo much moisture. I wake up with dewy skin and it smells AMAZING. It’s also great if you want to reduce the look of wrinkles. I use one made of beeswax. I purchased it from Crete, Greece and I’m in the works of bringing it to North America. If you’re interested, shoot me an email.
In home …
>> Plants. I am obsessed. I love how it adds life to my space but I also love tending to them. It’s one of the few things in my life where my mind quiets and I am fully present and I feel joyful. (I’m working on finding/adding more things to my life that do that)
>> My environment impacts my mood greatly. As a result, I keep my place clean and tidy (it’s easy to do when it’s just you and a cat living in the space).
I do a deep clean once a week and then every morning I make my bed and every evening I put dishes in the dishwasher, tidy up my desk and counters so that when I wake in the morning, I’m working with a clean slate.
>> Diffuse essential oils, burn non-toxic candles and get flowers from the farmer’s market.
I currently use DoTerra oils but I’ve heard great things about the quality of Saje as well and have smelled a few of their products. They smell wonderful.
ps. DoTerra is an MLM company so not easily accessible unless you want to pay the money to join. If you have someone in your circle who lives close to you, you can always ask them to purchase it for you through their account.
Before buying any oils, I’d recommend doing some research to make sure the oils are of good quality, ethically sourced etc.
>> I loooove me a good candle. So much so that I’ve been making my own and will be launching in my store January 2023 😀
>> Flowers. I buy flowers from the market and make my own flower arrangements using mason jars and some twine. I keep some and gift some. There’s something about creating things with your hands. It’s an experience.
In business …
>> I’ve incorporated the “one thing” rule. One business goal and take one action each and every day. No matter how big or how small.
If you want to know what this would look like for you, send me an email and I’d be happy to help map it out with you.
If you’d like to share something (or things) you’re loving, I’d love to hear it/them 🙂
Always rooting for you xo
